In March 1858, the whole city of Lourdes was upset by the declarations of Bernadette Soubirous.

Jean-Baptiste Estrade, a small town tax official, remains skeptical and believes in deception. His sister, however, knows Bernadette well but, in the face of this madness, he dissuades her from believing in the apparitions. All these certainties crack when he goes to meet the girl and become a witness and defender of her good faith.

He then actively propagates and supports Bernadette. This narrative, marked by the religious sensitivity of the 19th century, has lost none of its relevance. He bears witness to an ardent Christian faith and a strong attachment to the Church.
