Each year, the Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes defines a pastoral theme that becomes the guiding thread for all the ceremonies and celebrations during the pilgrimage year.

For the years 2022-2023-2024, the theme will be the request made by Our Lady of Lourdes during the thirteenth apparition: "Go and tell the priests that a chapel should be built here and that people should come here in procession".

This message to the priests will be meditated on as follows:

2022: "Go and tell the priests ..."

2023: "... that a chapel be built here..."

2024: "... and that they come here in procession".

To symbolise the theme of 2024, the Shrine commissioned the Monnaie de Paris to mint this medal, which symbolises the last part of the words spoken by the Immaculate Conception.

On the reverse, the torchlight procession is immediately recognisable, with the basilicas in the background and the two lanterns so characteristic of this moment of communion in the foreground. The small dots represent the pilgrims who responded to the Lady's request and came here in procession.

At the bottom of the coin, "Lourdes 2024" is noted to indicate the year, while the notion of the theme of the year borders this image of Lourdes.

On the reverse, the logos of the Monnaie de Parie and the Sanctuary are engraved on France, a reminder that the Monnaie de Paris is first and foremost a French institution, illustrating the exclusive provenance of this souvenir coin.
