Jean-Paul Lécot at the organ of the church of Saint-Girons in Monein.
In 1706, Rameau was in Paris as «organist of the Jesuits of Rue Saint-Jacques and of the Pères de la Merci». In September1706 he applied for the position of organist in the church of Sainte-Marie-Madeleine-en-la-Cité. Chosen by the jury, he finally refused the position. It is notable that after having performed the duties of organist for most of his career, he leaves no room for this instrument. On the other hand, we know that transcriptions from his operas were often played at the Spiritual Concert by Balbastre. It is in this historical continuity that Jean-Paul Lécot proposes us this recording.
