On March 2, 1858, during the 13th Apparition, the Virgin asked Bernadette: "Go and tell the priests that a chapel is being built here".

To meet this demand, the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception was built. It was blessed on August 15, 1871 and consecrated in July 1876.
The stained glass windows that adorn this upper basilica trace the history of the Apparitions of Lourdes in 1858 until the proclamation of the dogma of the Immaculate Conception by Pope Pius IX in 1854.

The stained glass window chosen to illustrate this clipboard is the very first Apparition that took place on February 11, 1858. He depicts Mary and Bernadette together making the sign of the cross.

This handcrafted piece consists of a piece of glass, painted by hand using lacquers used for jewellery, which is inserted into a top quality paperweight base. This gives it a complete transparency that thanks to the light will give the drawing depth and brightness.
