This volume completes the "History of the Sanctuaries of Lourdes" collection, covering a little-known and little-studied period in the history of Lourdes (1909-1946), which began after the great celebrations of the Jubilee of the Fiftieth Anniversary of the Apparitions and ended with the death of Mgr Choquet. The book is signed by Mgr Jacques Perrier. Custodian of the Grotto for 14 years (1998-2012), he knows Lourdes inside out, having welcomed Pope John Paul II in 2004 and then Pope Benedict XVI in 2008. The driving force behind the 150th anniversary of the Apparitions in 2008, he has accompanied many pilgrimages and bishops from all over the world. Mgr Perrier turns historian to help us discover a period in the history of Lourdes and pilgrimages marked by two major world conflicts. This well-documented, fast-paced and dense work provides a narrative that is a pleasure to read. It is complemented by two booklets with rich colour illustrations.

Two decades of holy encounters inspired the writing of these twenty life-changing Lourdes experiences. Discover the amazing stories of love, suffering, and brokenness transformed by the graces of the Grotto.
Lourdes is known throughout the world as a place of prayer and healing where many miraculous cures have take place. But who was Bernadette ? The daughter of an unsuccessful miller whose dire poverty led to his being jailed; a clairvoyant and amazing witness whose visions of the virgen Mary transformed her own life and that of thousand of other. In this lavishly illustrated biography, her story is told by Mgr René Laurentin, basing his book on the original sources.
"I'm very happy, through this book, to be able to help young people (and perhaps those not so young) to rediscover the magnificent figure of Bernadette! She has a lot to pass on about the meaning of freedom in times of trial, about simplicity in truth, about discerning a vocation, about prayer!" Don Maxence Bertrand
