The notebook of Saint Bernadette which dates from 1873 to 1874 with notes of 1875 written on loose sheets.
With the exception of the autograph accounts of the Apparitions, the notebook of intimate notes is, without a doubt, the most precious treasure that Saint Bernadette keeps in the archives of the Saint Gildard Convent. On this humble notebook (10.5 x 5.5), Saint Bernadette wrote: - excerpts from her readings, pious thoughts or prayers copied on images, fragments of hymns, etc. in the midst of which she lets escape from her heart short and simple calls to God, the Virgin and the Saints...; - notes which she took in retirement with Father Jésuite Sécail from 21 to 30 October 1873 - Some patterns of meditation; - A beautiful prayer to the Blessed Virgin in the form of a dialogue between the soul and Mary, which she copied into an image - follow the notes taken at the retreat given by Father Jésuite Candeloup from 5 to 14 September 1874, as well as the advice she received from Father Douce and his own resolutions - again, a choice of thoughts, some of which have been copied to images - finally, on a last page, Saint Bernadette scribbled in pencil a tired writing, as if writing on her sick bed, a very moving thought concerning holiness and the Rule.
