At Lourdes, in front of the grotto of Massabielle, Bernadette Soubirous met the Immaculate Conception eighteen times in the course of 1858.

She was only fourteen years old, illiterate and in poor health.

She entered the Sisters of Charity and later bore witness to the message she had received in humility and service at the convent in Nevers, where her evangelical way of life, in imitation of the Virgin Mary, earned her the title of saint.
